In the first session of Interaction design’s EDD we started the discussion with what is interactions and how early human interacted? The discussion further extended to how interaction works and its steps. Acknowledgement is most important and first step of interaction, without it an interaction won’t begin. Then, we we’re shown the following video on small talk and acknowledgement.

In the above video, we can see they started the conversation by a topic of common interest and acknowledging the other person. Then, the moved the talk forward by talking about points derivate of the common point.

After this, we talked about largest natural sensor know to us i.e. Skin, Gravity and when we communicated with ourselves for the very first time. This led the conversation to ‘Names’. We were also shown another video on names.

In the above video, parents name their son ‘Mmm’ because it is Modern and Different and how that name eventually led to his death as a human sacrifice.

After the break, we were told about Bauhaus and Ulm school of design, their history and importance in design industry. At the end we talked about Dieter Rams and his 10 design principles. What are they and why they are important.

The first session was fun and interesting. I am really looking forward to Tuesday for the next Session.
